The speakers, especially Filipe Pires, Cybelle Oliveira, and Carlos Cabral, were outstanding. I'm already excited for the next one! My recent attendance at BSides João Pessoa 2025 was a truly exceptional experience, particularly as a first-timer. The event perfectly embodied the "from the community to the community" ethos, creating an incredibly welcoming environment that immediately made me feel like a valued member of the InfoSec world. The speakers were all outstanding, delivering highly technical yet accessible presentations. I was particularly impressed by the expertise of Filipe Pires, who captivated the audience with his deep dive into "Beyond the Surface: Delving into PDF File Structures and Malware Tactics." His ability to break down complex malicious components into understandable concepts was remarkable. Equally compelling were the talks by Cybelle Oliveira and Carlos Cabral. Cybelle's presentation, "Modbus.exe Has Crashed: When ICS Failures Fuel the Climate Crisis," highlighted a critical and often overlooked intersection of cybersecurity and real-world infrastructure, demonstrating her profound insight into Industrial Control Systems. Carlos's talk on "The resurrection payload: an overview of North Korean APTs' TTPs" was a masterclass in threat intelligence, providing a fascinating look into the history and tactics of sophisticated cyber threats. The positive energy and passion from the attendees and speakers alike made the entire event feel less like a conference and more like a gathering of passionate peers. It was a fantastic introduction to the local cybersecurity community, and I'm already looking forward to participating in future events.
